Sunday Mornings  10.30 am – 11.45 am
In 2020 Meditations for a happy life will occur twice each month.

This free public class held in our  peaceful meditation room is open to everyone and provides an opportunity to experience the peace of meditation and learn practical tools to solve our daily problems through the application of Buddha’s timeless advice. The teachings will be based on the inspiring book “Transform Your Life” written by the contemporary meditation master and founder of Amoghasiddhi KBC, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

The class will take place in conjunction with Prayers for World Peace – a short, simple and beautiful chanted practice that reminds us how to create the causes for peace for our self and others through recitation of verses taken from ancient Buddhist poetry.

Frequently asked questions:

What does the class entail?  Each class consists of a breathing meditation to settle the mind. Then there is a teaching based on a topic from Transform Your Life or The New Eight Steps to Happiness Then we collectively recite the verses from Prayers for World Peace which include a silent period for further meditation.

Is it religious? The classes are based on practical teachings which principally reveal how to maintain a happy and peaceful mind all the time and then to share this experience with others. Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso says “Everybody, religious or non-religious is looking for happiness all the time. They can fulfil their aim through practising these instructions.” This centre draws people from all walks of life from experienced Buddhist practitioners to those just wishing to learn more about meditation. Everybody is welcome regardless of background or beliefs.

Do I have to join in the prayers? No. The main part of the class will be the teaching and guided meditation. The prayers help prepare the best conditions in our mind for these and last around 10-15 minutes. There is no requirement to participate, you can simply listen and soak up the peaceful energy of the temple.
